Douglasdale detective killed in car crash

DOUGLASDALE - The Douglasdale Community Policing Forum regret to announce the death of one of their detective constables after being involved in a motor vehicle accident.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, confirmed that Constable Thabo Selekedi was killed in a motor vehicle accident along the N14 on his way to work on 28 March.

Muthan said, “It is a very sad day for the Douglasdale police as we have lost one of our very dedicated members.”

Muthan added that Selekedi’s death was a big loss to the detective unit at Douglasdale Police Station.

Condolences go out Selekedi’s family members who have been notified of the tragic event.

Chairperson of the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum, Jean Berdou said, “Douglasdale police and all its members are heartbroken and our thoughts and prayers are with the family members and colleagues.”

Berdou confirmed that the details of the funeral service would be made known once they were finalised.
