Friends of Free Wildlife raise funds at the Barnyard

RIVONIA – Friends of Free Wildlife held their first fundraiser, Rock Royalty, at the Barnyard Theatre in Rivonia, raising more than R27 000.

The evening brought 200 friends, colleagues and supporters of the group together for an evening of fun entertainment.

“Thank you to our generous raffle sponsors Mosethla Bush Camp and Eco Lodge, Cork-it Sales and Marketing, and McCarthy Woodmead,” said Wendy Brodie of Friends of Free Wildlife.

Brodie added that the funds would go a long way in supporting their hardworking staff members and volunteers who continued to use their expertise and knowledge in helping injured and orphaned wildlife.

“Rescue, rehabilitate and release endures to be the mission of Friends of Free Wildlife,” she said. “We are working under the auspices of both Irene McKenzie of Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education and Judy Davidson of WiC (Wildlife in Crisis).”

The wildlife organisation plans to continue hosting such events and hopes to see both old and new supporters at their next function which will be a champagne tasting.

“Thanks again for your continued support in our efforts to help our indigenous wildlife,” Brodie concluded.
