Residents urged to report vandalised streetlight poles
SUNNINGHILL - Following the tragic death of 18-year-old Lloyd Tiley who was electrocuted to death by a vandalised streetlight pole on 12 February, City Power together with Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe urged residents to immediately report poles without covers to the power utility.
Although City Power acknowledged that it had real issues with vandalism, it confirmed that it was investigating technical solutions to develop vandal-proof infrastructure.
This, however, was little consolation for the Tiley family. Shane Tiley, Lloyd’s father said, “It should never have happened.”
Tiley added that although some of the electrical poles had been repaired it was just too late.
