Douglasdale police celebrate National Police Day

COSMO CITY- Douglasdale Police Station joined in the National Police Day celebrations for the Honeydew Cluster at Cosmo City multi-purpose centre on 28 January.

Head of communications for Douglasdale Police Station, Warrant Officer Balan Muthan said, “National Police Day… is a day for police members to address issues within the cluster and celebrate the lives of officers who died in the line of duty.”

Station commander of Douglasdale police, Brigadier Lettie Hugo said the instruction from superiors was that all clusters must have a motivational day and hold a celebration for members of the police force.

One of the topics discussed on the day was incidents of suicide among officers and police members were encouraged to reach out for help should they feel depressed or stressed in their work.

“The police department is delighted to celebrate National Police Day and we call upon the community to support our brave men and women in blue in the fight against corruption and crime,” said chairperson of the Douglasdale Community Police Forum, Jean Berdou.

“Let us pause to remember the sacrifices that our police officers make to keep us all safe.”
