Local kickboxing club celebrates its first year

NORSCOT MANOR – With only one year under its belt, the Kaizen Nova Kickboxing Club situated in the Norscot Manor Recreation Centre continues to reach many milestones.

Among its first few achievements, the club was proud to have two of their students, Lindsey Henson and Nadeem Amra, compete in its first competition – both excelling in their respective Points Fighting divisions and coming third and fourth respectively.

Edwin Wolmarans, also a student of the club, added to the club’s success after completing his first grading and achieving his green belt.

The club specialises in Points and Continuous Fighting styles, which is suitable for all ages and has also started offering classes to the community in Fourways and its surrounding areas.

Head coach, Edward Davies competed in numerous provincial and national tournaments and was selected for the Eastern Gauteng Provincial Squad and went on to win his division at the SA Championships held in the Western Cape. He was also promoted to his fourth Dan black belt in November last year.

In an attempt to improve the safety of the community, the club has introduced a ladies only self-defense class. Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays and the club invites all ages to join.
