JOBURG - Mnet has reportedly responded to Gareth Cliff's legal team with the news that they plan to oppose the R25 million lawsuit which has been filed against them.

According to Channel24, Cliff filed an urgent application to the High Court on 19 January to have him re-instated as a judge on Idols SA.

Mnet is expected to provide supporting documents by close of business day on 21 January, detailing reasons for their decision to dismiss Cliff from the show.

Mnet released a statement to say that they would dispute Cliff’s claims of unfair dismissal and defamation.

The case is expected to be heard in the High Court on 26 January.

According to Channel24, if the court rules against Cliff’s reinstatement as a judge on Idols SA, a second court order is expected to be lodged to stop auditions which are due to start on 30 January.
