Ward 93 councillor shares her hopes for 2016

PAULSHOF - Ward 93 councillor Annette Deppe shares her hopes for the community for this year. Deppe said that with the arrival of the new year, she believes every citizen in the community has the power in their hands to make this year a momentous one.

“It is an election year and the prayer is that every South African will exercise their vote and vote for their dreams, not their fears. “It has been more than 20 years since the ANC took over running this country and, sadly, we have not realised the potential that this move could have brought us. “We have not prospered in the way we all hoped for and expected. We have become a country plagued by nepotism, corruption and inefficiency. The DA’s #Vision2029 is the means to change all that,” Deppe expressed.

According to Deppe, #Vision2029 paints a picture of what South Africa could be, a South Africa based on freedom, fairness and opportunity for all the citizens of this magnificent country.

She added that it could be a country with reduced poverty and inequality, a country with a strong economy, first-class education for all children, exceptional healthcare facilities, and a country where personal safety is a right, not a privilege.

“South Africa is home to millions of vibrant, wonderful, intelligent and honest people. They come from all walks of life, from many different religious, cultural and ethnic groups. You are one of those people – and you owe it to your children and your grandchildren to give them a country that offers opportunity, hope and encouragement to every single child in this beautiful land. Every single child, not just the children of a chosen few,” she said.

Deppe concluded that the community should make this year a year of hope, to make South Africa a place where the extraordinary potential of every single person could be realised. She urged the community to vote for clean governance, a corruption-free government and a country that all of us could be proud of.

“May this year be the start of everything you hope it will be and may it be blessed with freedom, fairness and opportunity.”
