Bryanston resident impresses at gym games

BRYANSTON – Erin Wakefield did the community of Sandton proud following her performance at the recent Gym Games in Gauteng.

The Bryanston resident took part in the rhythmic gymnastics competition along with her teammates of the Gold Reef Rhythmic Gymnastics Club and placed an impressive first in the Hoop and Ball final.

Wakefield added to this performance by placing fourth in the Junior Olympic Individual all-round competition.

The Gold Reef Rhythmic Gymnastics club is based at the Berario Recreation Centre and members are coached by Maureen van Rooyen.

The club accepts girls from the age of four and teaches rhythmic gymnastics, a competitive girls’ sport that combines dance and gymnastics skills with the use of five different hand apparatus.
