Douglasdale CPF assists Randburg SPCA with putting out fire

FOURWAYS – Members of the Douglasdale CPF heeded a call to assist the Randburg SPCA after news of the animal shelter being on fire trended on social media.

Lulu Amvrosiadis of the Randburg SPCA, explained that the fire was started by a neighbour next door who was burning a pile of rubbish, “The suspect ran off after he couldn’t keep the fire under control,” she said.

Amvrosiadis added that only one person was badly injured, and had received medical attention but was back at the scene to assist.

All animals have been moved to a place of safety.

According to Jean Berdou, Chairperson of the Douglasdale CPF no animals were injured, and the fire department was still working on taking out the fire that had spread to the charity storage container.
