Paint the Town Pink organisation to party for a cause

MOVIDA - The Paint The Town Pink organisation is set to host their first charity event for the year Get pinked! on 5 September at Movida, Rivonia.

Paint the Town Pink is an organisation which hosts events for charities, and this year they are supporting breast cancer awareness and raising funds for The Pink Drive. The organisation’s goal is to bring breast cancer awareness and resources to communities who can’t afford to have regular checks and mammograms.

The theme for the party will be an all-white affair where people are encouraged to come and Get Pinked! by purchasing pink items which will be on sale on the evening.

“We want people to understand that early detection can save your life, and while the process, or eradication, may not be easy, it will be worthwhile and remission will be possible,” said public relations officer of Paint the Town Pink Stephanie Young.

According to Young, they are currently not registered as a non-profit organisation but want to register next year. The organisation is owned by Echo Legacy Holdings which looks to assist various charities and causes and different community projects.

“We chose The Pink Drive because we share similar values and they will provide free mammograms to communities that could otherwise not afford it,” Young said.

She concluded, the Get Pinked! event’s intention is to party for a cause and all the money raised will be used to fund the grand gala event where they intend on raising R20 000 for The Pink Drive. The formal gala dinner, which will be held at Room 5 in Rivonia, will honour cancer survivors as well as educate the audience about breast cancer.
