Update: Attorney for the victims of alleged police assault speaks out

DOUGLASDALE - The two Douglasdale police officers who were caught on camera allegedly assaulting a man in a parking lot in Fourways could be facing a charge of sexual assault.

The officers were allegedly caught on camera by a friend of the victim.

The attorney for the victim who was allegedly brutally assaulted on 18 August in Fourways, Nico Venter of Venter Attorneys said, “Both the police and Independent Police Investigative Directorate have confirmed that they are doing a full investigation relating to the charges and we will support the process.”

He added that he was awaiting updates on the investigation, and will await instructions from his clients regarding further legal action.

“No interviews will be conducted by the victims and our clients have been advised to attend trauma counselling,” Venter said.

They two policemen are not on duty but have not yet been suspended.
