Leeuwkop Prison staff allegedly implicated in nepotism scandal

KYALAMI - Allegations that some human resource personnel at Leeuwkop Prison have given preferential treatment to their relatives for a one-year correctional services learnership programme have surfaced in a report.

SABC News has obtained cellphone video footage of a meeting in which some of the implicated staff members allegedly admitted to giving preferential treatment to relatives and a girlfriend to join the programme.

The report further alleged that the personnel sat on the board, even when their relatives were being interviewed.

SABC News believed that investigations were underway at the prison and would be completed before August, when the programme is reportedly due to start.
