BREAKING NEWS: Shots allegedly fired in Douglasdale

DOUGLASDALE - DOUGLASDALE Shopping Centre has been the latest scene in a spate of shooting incidents that have engulfed Johannesburg north recently.

Douglasdale Police Station’s Brigadier Lettie Hugo confirmed that three fleeing suspects were arrested after security guards shot at their getaway car.
She said the suspects fled from a Woolworths store in the mall, but stopped and surrendered at a nearby total garage after one shot was fired by the guards.
“I can confirm that three suspects have been arrested and were found in possession of stolen goods including credit cards, and the car they were driving in was fitted with fake number plates,” said Hugo.
The police boss added that dangerous weapons which included long knives were also recovered from the car which she suspected to have been stolen.
Chairperson of the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum, Jean Berdou said the three were initially spotted trying to skim an ATM machine.
The Douglasdale shooting comes a day after two Lonehill security guards were injured after being shot by armed robbers.

According to the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum Facebook page, an incident occurred just off Douglasdale Drive on the afternoon of 20 May.

Douglasdale Police and emergency services are reportedly at the scene.

Three suspects have allegedly been arrested.
