Motorist allegedly tazers taxi driver and is hit with sjamboks

FOURWAYS- Three taxi drivers assaulted a motorist with sjamboks after the motorist threw a rock at one of the driver's windows and tazered him.

21 November, 7:15 am

According to a representative from Emer-G-Med, who responded to the scene, a man driving a BMW got into an argument with a taxi driver who had cut him off. The incident took place at the corner of William Nicol and Kingfisher Drive.

The taxi driver alighted from his vehicle to see what the problem was and the BMW driver tazered him and threw a rock at the taxi driver’s back window, shattering the glass.

Two other taxi drivers stopped when they saw the commotion and started to hit the BMW driver with sjamboks. They also threw rocks at the BMW driver’s car and broke the windscreen.

The representative from Emer-G-Med said the BMW driver fled the scene. According to eyewitnesses, the BMW driver was injured however he had already fled the scene before an ambulance arrived so paramedics are not sure how serious his injuries were.

20 November, 8:30 pm

According to an eyewitness who was at the scene of the incident, there was a fight between a 30-year-old man and three male taxi drivers.

The taxi drivers allegedly assaulted the man with sjamboks.

It is believed that the victim of the assault had thrown a rock at one of the taxi drivers’ back windows, shattering the glass. The victim and the taxi driver began to argue and the fight became physical at which point, two other taxi drivers also became involved.

It is unclear at this stage what the extent of the injuries to the victim were and police have yet to officially confirm details of the incident.

20 November, 7 pm

Eyewitnesses reported what appeared to be a road rage incident on the corner of Kingfisher Drive and William Nicol Drive on the evening of 20 November.

Twitter users said the incident appeared to be an accident but there were a lot of people fighting at the scene.

Emer-G-Med was on scene but police are yet to give details on the incident.

Traffic conditions are still being affected by the incident and paramedics at the scene warned motorists to avoid the area if possible.
