Smoke from burning shacks seen in Fourways

Community members from as far as Kyalami could see black smoke which the City of Joburg Emergency Services said was coming from a shack fire in Kya Sands.

The emergency services said the fire had destroyed multiple shacks.

Emergency services were on the scene and people had been evacuated.

Chairperson of the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum Jean Berdou also confirmed that emergency services and police were at the scene.

On the Fourways Review Facebook page Kelly Montgomery said, “It looks terrible. We can see it on the other side of Cedar Creek. It look like shacks on fire.”
