Karate kids go far

FOURWAYS - 4Ways Dojo, led by sensei Stef Biagioni, did extremely well in the Zone 6 Championships held in Lusaka, Zambia on 28 and 29 June.

During the Karate South Africa selections earlier this year, eight athletes from 4Ways Dojo were chosen to represent South Africa at the Zone 6 Championship. There were six countries represented in the championships, namely South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia and Namibia, with just over 300 entries participating. Overall South Africa won the championships, having received over 100 medals in total; Botswana placed second and Namibia placed third.

4Ways Dojo contributed greatly to South Africa’s win by scooping up 11 medals: seven gold and four silver.

4Ways Dojo also announced that sensei Biagioni and his son, Slivio – who are part of the senior kata team – have been selected to participate in the Africa Cup in Dakar, Senegal. This marks the first time in karate history that a father and son are on the same senior karate team. Stef Biagioni is the oldest member of the team while Silvio is the youngest.
