A wild night for FreeMe

PAULSHOF- FreeMe wildlife rehabilitation centre hosted a welcome dinner for renowned conservationist, Ed Clark at Coobs restaurant in Parkhurst.

FreeMe said they were honoured that Clark was visiting the centre.

He is the co-founder of the Wildlife Centre of Virginia, which is one of the world’s leading veterinary teaching and research hospitals for wildlife and conservation medicine. And the programmes used by the Virginia centre have become prototypes for wildlife conservation organisations around the world.

Clark is also a well-known TV personality, having appeared in several documentary films and TV series. Most recently he was host and narrator of Wildlife Emergency, an award-winning series about the Wildlife Centre of Virginia.

Being one of South Africa’s premier wildlife rehabilitation centres, FreeMe is hoping to benefit from Clark’s vast knowledge and experience.

The dinner also hosted Tamerin Jardine, Miss Earth 2012, and the guest speaker for the evening was award-winning investigative journalist and author of the book Killing for Profit, Julian Rademeyer. The book is based on a two-year investigation into the illegal rhino horn trade from the frontlines of the rhino wars in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique, to the medicine markets of Vietnam.

The guests munched on sumptuous dishes made with fresh organic produce straight from Coobs’ farm in the Magaliesberg, while fabulous prizes, which included two signed copies of Killing for Profit, were given away.
