Content creators’ stamp on the entertainment industry sees no bounds as DStv has created an award recognising their impact not only on social media but far bound.
The inaugural DStv Content Creator Awards were announced on Tuesday and they are expected to spotlight the people, influencers, brands and agencies that make us feel good.
DStv says these are the type of content creators who have us glued to our phones and other smart devices through funny, thoughtful and creative content.
Thabisa Mkhwanazi, executive head of marketing at MultiChoice South Africa said their partnership with One-eye Jack (marketing agency) is a way to give influencers the recognition they deserve.
“As the biggest funder of local content and sport in Africa, we’re looking forward to fantastic ways to leverage this collaboration with maximum impact for the creators, our channels and the South African public,” he said.
Being an influencer and content creator has become lucrative in the last few years and is seen as a career choice for those lucky enough to earn a proper living.
Tik Tok creator operations lead for Sub-Saharan African Saul Moross said: “As a platform that continuously looks to inspire authentic creativity and amazing content, this for us forms part of the many ways in which we recognise and celebrate our local talent.”
DStv says their awards are of the highest calibre and entries must come “from creators of exemplary content.”
The requirement is for entry is content creators over the age of 18 who live in South Africa, and have created something great that went viral.
