Bela-Bela township resident Hester Swarts expressed her heartfelt thanks to the Bela-Bela Residents Association (BRA), which donated a house to her family.

The newly-built house was handed over on Thursday 16 August, in line with Women’s Month celebrations.

Swarts lives in the house with her son.

The small family has no source of income, and depends largely on the child support grant from the government.

“Life feels much better now since my son and I moved into the new house. Things are better now compared to when we were still in the old dilapidated house,” she said.

Swarts added that it warmed her heart to know there were still people around who cared about others.

BRA closed ranks with several business owners, who dug deep from their pockets to make the Swarts family realise its dream.

BRA is a political party under the leadership of activists Piet Mabusela and Joseph Makhubela.

In Mogalakwena, Mayor Andrina Matsemela officially handed over a new house to a child-headed family in Ga-Molekane on Wednesday, 29 August.

The house was a donation from the municipality, built by the Mogalakwena Anglo Platinum Mine in collaboration with Nale Holdings.
