Lephalale fashionista Zak White — affectionately known as Moderator Chief — has lined up a fashion show to offer local designers a platform to showcase their haute couture.

White said the fashion show was billed to be staged at the Bela-Bela Multipurpose Centre on Saturday 11 August, following successful likewise shows in Lephalale and Polokwane.

He said designers would arrive from as far afield as Polokwane.

These include, among others, White and Quinton Molina from Lephalale, and also Abram Modimola from Polokwane.

He said there were many backyard and sidewalk designers all over towns like Modimolle and Bela-Bela, who deserved a proper platform to exhibit what they are made of.

The informal fashion sector include many women who design various dresses and shirts for traditional weddings, and those who do work for individual needs and specifications.

“Many people see fashion as something for the elite and moneyed classes. We have to do away with this stereotype and make fashion design for everyone with talent and passion,” he said.
