The sextet of grannies from Bela-Bela who were part of the Limpopo team in the national indigenous games emerged from the Eastern Cape with a bronze.

Coach Thabo Molokomme said the six grannies contributed immensely to the province’s third position achievement, during the event hosted in the Eastern Cape capital of Nelson Mandela Bay, during the recent inter-provincial showdown.

KwaZulu-Natal was the ultimate winner, with Gauteng the runners-up.

Molokomme said the six, who are aged between 60 and 69, were grateful for their experience, although they returned tired from the long luxury coach journey.

The Bela-Bela super grannies are namely Rhina Seima, Elisabeth Molefe, Mary Ralebotja, Onnica Kekana, Paulina Mpedi and Paulian Moaga.

Molokomme said the grannies had much fun in the coastal town, being exposed to, among other activities, the symbolic parliament for older people.

He said for the six grannies, it was back to the drawing boards ahead of the 2020 national event scheduled for the Western Cape capital of Cape Town.
