Soccer teams in Bela-Bela and beyond are gearing up for the annual Hlungwane Soccer Tournament, with the ultimate winners guaranteed to shepherd away a live sheep.
The tournament will be hosted at Zone 14 grounds on Saturday 7 September, and will kick off at 10:00 am until late.
The four teams to take part are Bela-Bela Soccer Academy FC, Bela-Bela Pirates FC, Diesel ‘n Dust FC, and Golden City FC from the Pretoria township of Soshanguve.
Bela-Bela Masters FC and Bela-Bela United Masters FC have been lined up as curtain-raisers, to give the golden oldies the opportunity to flex their ageing muscles.
Co-ordinator and sponsor, ward councillor Freddy Hlungwane, said he expected soccer lovers to support the tournament in their numbers.
Six under-15 soccer teams will also take part, battling it out for a roving trophy.
The under-15 teams are Baroka FC, Blue Birds FC, All Stars FC, Marumo FC, Boca Junior FC and Chelsea FC.
