Globe-trotter Thabo Mabotja seeks support ahead of overseas trips

Bela-Bela’s lightweight bodybuilder Thabo Mabotja has sent out the clarion call for any kind of support ahead of his trip to Italy for the Bodybuilding World Cup.

He is scheduled to join a contingent of weightlifters headed for the Bodybuilding World Cup starting on Saturday 7 September.

On Saturday 12 September the gold medallist has another trip lined up for Slovania.

Speaking during a recent interview, Mabotja said he needed any kind of support to make his overseas trips worthwhile.

He was selected after winning gold and prizemoney of R2 000 during the African continental International Bodybuilding Federation championships held in early June, in Gauteng.

He was taking part for the third tournament running.

During his first attempt at the continental championships, Mabotja said he came up sixth, and improved from this to fourth position during the second attempt.

It was his second position at the latest continental championships which earned him a place in the national squad headed for Italy.

He has been a bodybuilder since the year 2011.
