Team Waterberg does well at national tournament

The U/19 netball team from Waterberg did well at the Netball National Championship which took place in Cape Town.

The U/19 netball team from Waterberg did well at the Netball National Championship which took place in Cape Town.

The tournament started on Sunday 23 June and ended on Saturday the 29th.

A total of 12 players and four officials from Waterberg were chosen to form part of the provincial team that is representing Limpopo in the national championships.

The players include; Kedibone Mokwena, Mmatshepo Kgabo and Koketso Kubyane from Bela-Bela, Thato Mothudi and Relebogile Malapane from Thabazimbi, Nadia Fouche and Prudence Masalesa from Modimolle, Jessica Matjiu, Alice Thobakgale, Onneile Molamu, Dersley Chabalala and Charmonette Bothma from Mokopane.

Team Waterberg won their first game played against Team Ruth Mompati by 43-14. They went on to beat Team Lejweleputswa 27-24, lost 21-24 against Team Ekurhuleni on their third game, and at the time of going to press, the team had won 36-26 against Team Bojanala.

On Friday 28 June, Team Waterberg beat Fezile Dabi 37-16 and drew 33-33 with Umkhanyakude on the last day of the tournament, which was on Saturday 29 June.

The team also won the Saturday game with quota/target, meaning six goals were added to them.

The group is made up of teams from all the five districts of the province including; Waterberg, Capricorn, Sekhukhuni, Mopani and Vhembe.
