The annual Premier’s Golf Tournament has once again opened doors for several school-leavers to access university education.

The annual Premier’s Golf Tournament has once again opened doors for several school-leavers to access university education.

Premier Stan Mathabatha and Economic Development, Environment and Tourism MEC, Thabo Mokone, graced the occasion.

The tournament is hosted at the Euphoria Golf and Lifestyle Estate in the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality area every year.

Premier spokesperson, Kenny Mathivha, said the tournament was held as part of the fundraising drive to give bursaries to 10 candidates so they can go to tertiary.

Mathivha said there is a trust fund with trustees who work outside government, who have over the past four years sent about 20 candidates to acquire tertiary education, at a cost of about

R500 000.

“The recent tournament was also aimed at raising funds at a target of R1-million to send other deserving candidates to university,” Mathivha explained.

“One of them who is already approved is a car guard and cleaner. He will be studying for a BA degree at his university of choice,” he added.
