SAFA Waterberg Region has selected a squad of 18 players, to represent the region at the provincial selections.

The provincial selections will be held in Thohoyandou on Saturday, 6 July, where five regional squads from all regions will bring in their players.

The Waterberg selections were held at the Ephraim Mogale Stadium in Modimolle on Sunday, 9 June.

Among the selected players, Mogalakwena has a representation of six players, with Modimolle and Bela Bela represented by seven and five players respectively.

The selected squad will represent the Waterberg region, and at the same time the players will stand a chance of being selected and roped into the provincial squad.

The provincial team will then participate at the SAB Under-21 National Championships to be held on a yet to be announced date and venue.

At the national championships, a total of nine provincial squads plus a team from the University Sports South Africa (USSA) will participate in a week-long tournament.

A draw will be conducted by the South African Football Association (SAFA) and the South African Breweries (SAB), to determine who will be up against who in a fixture which comprises two groups
of five teams.

The top two finishers from each group advance to the semi-finals to compete for a place in the finals of the competition.

It is at this level of the tournament, where professional scouts and coaches come and identify young talent.
