Trip down memory lane for three sisters

The fascilities and school grounds conjure fond and nostalgic memories of days gone by.

On Thursday morning 16 May, Laerskool Alma received a surprise visit from three sisters: Hannie de Witt, Lettie Truter and Marthie Botha.

Their maiden name was Kritzinger.

De Witt said this trip down memory lane recalls the short period of time she and her sisters attended Laerskool Alma in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. The fascilities and school grounds conjure fond and nostalgic memories of days gone by.

The Kritzinger sisters and their spouses were very impressed with the school’s upkeep and described it as “charming”, educator Cornelia Erasmus told The Post.

“Laerskool Alma is proud of its history and happily shares in the memories of former pupils.

The familiar feeling of ‘the more things change, the more they stay the same’ seemed to be central to their conversations,” Erasmus said.

The sisters all reside in Pretoria and were on a getaway to Weesgerus, Modimolle, when they decided to show their spouses the school they attended way back.

Alma is tucked away in the Alma Valley and is surrounded by the beautiful Waterberg Mountains. People that recall Alma in the olden days, speak only of fond memories and people that are dear and near to the hart. Laerskool Alma is proud to still be a part of this warm and embracing culture, Erasmus said.
