Limpopo golf showdown a success story all-round

The Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) has declared the province’s inaugural Limpopo Championship golf tournament a roaring success.

LTA CEO Nomasonto Ndlovu said the tournament, held at Mookgophong’s Euphoria Golf and Lifestyle Estate from Thursday 7 March to Monday 11 March, had helped to position the province as a tourism destination.

The Limpopo Championship attracted a field of local and foreign golfers, and was won by South Africa’s JC Ritchie, who pocketed R237 750 for his efforts.

The United Kingdom’s S Surry walked away with R165 750.00 prizemoney,

Another South African, H Du Plessis won R104 850.00, while Englishman R McGovan won R49 750.00, with South Africa’s J. Ahlers taking home R49 750.00.

“Through this tournament, we were not only able to raise our sports tourism profile to the world, but to also position Limpopo as a leading tourism destination in the country. It is our wish that the players come back to explore more of our many offerings”, Ndlovu added.
