Soccer Academy wins schools’ tournament
The Bela-Bela Soccer Academy has won the inaugural inter-schools soccer tournament.
The Bela-Bela Soccer Academy has won the inaugural inter-schools soccer tournament.
The competition was facilitated by Sinav Holdings and the non-governmental organisation, Bela–Bela Delivery.
The tournament was held on Wednesday 20 February at the Bela-Bela High School Stadium.
Schools taking part were namely Ulando Combined School, Raeleng High School, Maope High School and Bela-Bela High School, home to the soccer academy.
In the semi-finals Bela-Bela Soccer Academy beat Maope High School 1-0, while Ulando Combined School went down 2-1 to Raeleng High School.
Bela-Bela Soccer Academy won the finals 6-5 on penalties, with the match ending in a 1-all stalemate at regulation time.
The winners were awarded a trophy and gold medals.
Bela-Bela Delivery head, Niholas Malete, said plans were underway to host the tournament on an annual basis.
The tournament was graced by Bela-Bela Mayor Jeremiah Ngobeni.
