Home province hanging in there for Nedbank Cup glory

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC — and possibly Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC – remain the last hopes of the Limpopo Province in the multi-million rand Nedbank Cup.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC — and possibly Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC – remain the last hopes of the Limpopo Province in the multi-million rand Nedbank Cup.

By the time you read this, Thohoyandou Black Leopards FC would have concluded their own fixture against Bidvest Wits FC midweek.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC have an away date with Chippa United FC at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in the Eastern Cape city of Port Elizabeth on Saturday 16 February.

The Limpopo team emerged from a 4-all draw with second-placed Ajax Cape Town FC in a National First Division fixture last weekend, while Bidvest Wits FC went down 2-1 to Highlands Park FC
during last weekend’s Absa Premiership fixtures.

At least two teams from the lower ranks of South African football are guaranteed a place in the hallowed Nedbank Cup quarter-finals (last eight), namely Jomo Cosmos FC and TS Galaxy FC, who
are scheduled for a match-up at Ekurhuleni’s Makhulong Stadium on Sunday 17 February.

Cape Umoya United FC and Mbombela United FC are also in with a chance in a fixture to be decided on Friday 15 February.

The biggest fixture, perhaps, for the last 16 stages of the Nedbank Cup, is a match between home side Cape Town City FC and Highlands Park FC, scheduled for Friday night.

In other fixtures, Witbank Spurs FC welcomes Lamontville Golden Arrows FC at the Mpumalanga town of Emalahleni on Saturday.

Richards Bay FC visit Bloemfontein Celtic FC, while Magic FC welcomes the mighty Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.
