Modimolle’s La Masia FC was expected to end the 2018 year on a high, with a home fixture against

Naturena FC scheduled for Ephraim Mogale Stadium on Friday, 30 November.

This follows a tight friendly match between La Masia FC and Dalero Football Academy of Polokwane.

The two under-15 teams played to a 2-all draw, at the Polokwane Rugby Stadium on Friday, 23 November.

On Saturday 8 December, La Masia FC will host a four-team tournament at the Ephraim Mogale Stadium.

Teams from Mokopane, Bela-Bela and Vaalwater will be hosted by the local team during this year-end tournament.

The La Masia FC youngsters are mentored by coaches Hope Motau and Tshepo Selamolela, together with team manager Martin Selamolela.

Coach Selamolela said the friendly match was an eye-opener, and further commended his boys for putting up a brave fight.

“It was a physical game. We were expecting that the match will be more of an open game, but then our opponents were more physical, and our boys had to do everything they can to match them,” Selamolela said.

Selamolela said La Masia FC was not only focusing on the development of players on the pitch, but also to help them grow mentally.

The team management hosts a session every Monday, where the young players are taught life skills and also warned on the dangers of partaking in activities that may affect their football careers negatively.
