Handball tournament to be held in Durban

South African Handball Federation president, Ally Pole, attended the 21 st Congress of the Confederation of African Handball in Ivory Coast, Abidjan.

South Africa has been awarded the right to host the 2019 International Handball Federation Challenge, to be contested by countries such as Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Malawi and Mozambique.

The event is scheduled to take place at the KwaZulu-Natal capital of Durban from 7 to 21 May 2019.

Pole expressed joy in the fact that the South African Handball Federation is also afforded the opportunity to participate in the continental Beach Handball tournament, which is scheduled to
take place on the islands of Cape Verde in July 2019.

The 2019 Qualifiers for All Africa games scheduled for Morocco will be hosted by Botswana.

“Handball is certainly bound to take centre stage on the development of sport in the country,” Pole said.
