Mellowed grand ol’ Charles Pheeha ready for marathon
The ol’ man river of the athletics track, Charles Pheeha (65), was ready to take part in the annual Bela-Bela Super Spar 4-in-1 Road Race.
The ol’ man river of the athletics track, Charles Pheeha (65), was ready to take part in the annual Bela-Bela Super Spar 4-in-1 Road Race.
The annual event was scheduled to take place on Saturday 10 November, drawing participants from all over the country.
Runners were required to start at Hoërskool Warmbad.
The distance options included a 5-kilometre event, 10 km, and the longer 21.1km and 42.2km.
Pheeha was to take part in the 21.1 km event for the 10th year running.
He runs under the category of the masters.
Pheeha said it was his wish to encourage the younger generation to take part in long distance racing, which kept one fit and healthy.
Originally from Botokwa in the northernmost parts of the Limpopo province, Pheeha has since resettled in Bela-Bela due to work purposes.
