The cherry on top is that the academy’s under-15 squad was recently crowned Copa Coca-Cola Cup Limpopo champions, and were scheduled to represent the province at the national finals in the
Eastern Cape capital of Port Elizabeth.

It has been a glorious journey for head coach Sam Modise, who once played in the Waterberg SAB Regional League at Diesel ‘n Dust FC, and now returns to the same higher tier as a coach.

He also played for Modimolle Terrors FC and Modimolle Aces in the third-tier ABC Motsepe League.

Modise was at the time on a roll, enlisted at the Jomo Cosmos FC development squad.

The Bela-Bela Soccer Academy, made up of pupils from Bela-Bela High School, was runaway winners of the LFA, winning 13 fixtures, drawing one and losing one.

Modise chose to err on the side of caution, explaining that the target for the new season was to consolidate and remain in the Waterberg SAB League at the end of the season.

He said the academy technical team was looking for talent from newcomers at Bela-Bela High School, ahead of the player registration window.
