Lifeline for LFA runners-up

Runners-up in the Modimolle Local Football Association (LFA) have been given a chance to battle it out for a chance to be promoted into the Waterberg SAB Regional League.

Runners-up in the Modimolle Local Football Association (LFA) have been given a chance to battle it out for a chance to be promoted into the Waterberg SAB Regional League.

Teams that are positioned second in all three streams within the Modimolle-Mookgophong LFA, plus one from the Bela Bela LFA, would engage in a do-or-die battle, for a chance to play at the regional level during the new season.

The four teams were yet to be confirmed at the time of going to press.

Modimolle-Mookgophong LFA chairperson, Hlupi Lehong, could confirm that Vaalwater, Mookgophong and Modimolle would be represented in these playoffs.

The two winners would then form part of the 16-team Stream A of the Waterberg SAB Regional League.

Meanwhile, last Saturday Mokopane South FC defeated Mookgophong Junior Stars FC 3-2 to claim position four in the SAB League.

The result meant that Junior Stars FC ended the race on position five.

The first position has since been claimed by Palala Giant Killers FC during the play-offs, which were held in Bela-Bela in June.

Sekgakgapeng Young Cosmos FC was the runner-up in the league, while Modimolle Troublemakers FC settled for third position.

The winner in the SAB League will receive R13 500 in prize-money.

The runners-up were guaranteed R9 000, while the team on the third position was set to receive R7 000.
