Community leader and sportsman, Ally Pole, has been re-elected chairperson of the Waterberg region of the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu).

Community leader and sportsman, Ally Pole, has been re-elected chairperson of the Waterberg region of the South African Democratic Teachers’ Union (Sadtu).

The cherry on top was that Pole has also been re-elected chairperson of the Limpopo Handball Federation.

The teachers’ union elections were held from last Thursday 28 June to Friday 29 June at Jagbaan Lodge in Mokopane.

The Limpopo Handball Federation elections were hosted by the provincial sports, arts and culture department in
Polokwane on Sunday 1 July.

During the Sadtu elections, Bela-Bela Sadtu branch member, Ouma Nhlapo, was elected deputy chair, with Modimolle’s Tshisane Matshoge as secretary, and Kwena Makgakga, also from Modimolle, as his deputy.

Another Modimolle-based educator, Seaga Chidi, was elected the regional treasurer.

Three additional convenors were also elected into the executive, namely Mamonei Kgotlang for gender, Caro Ngobeni (education) and Kgomotso Shai (sports, arts and culture).

During the Limpopo Handball Federation elections, Lydia Rabothata from Modjadjiskloof in Mopani was elected deputy chair, Martha Sekole from Turfloop in Capricorn District the incoming
secretary, with Tlou Sekwaila from Aganang in Capricorn elected deputy secretary.

Joseph Mavundlela from Mogalakwena in the Waterberg was elected treasurer, while Modimolle’s Thabo Baloyi was elected to the portfolio of technical director.
