ABC Motsepe League showdown

The Limpopo province has been chosen as hosts for the South African Football Association’s third-tier ABC Motsepe League playoffs.

Matches were scheduled to kick off from Monday, 4 June until Saturday, 9 June, at the Turfloop University Sports Grounds.

Limpopo ABC Motsepe League champions, The Dolphins FC, was scheduled to play their first match on Tuesday 5 June, when the provincial hopefuls lock horns with Tornado FC from the Eastern Cape.

The Limpopo side will have another mountain to climb when they take on North West champions Buya Msuthu FC on Wednesday, 6 June.

Both teams participated in the playoffs for promotion into the National First Division (NFD) last season, but were not fortunate enough to make the cut.

The semifinals will take place on Thursday, 7 June.

The teams which will be advancing to the finals will be given a chance to rest on Friday, 8 June, while preparing for the big day.

The all-important final, which would feature winners from both the first and second semi-finals, was scheduled for Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 9 June.

The two finalists automatically gain promotion into the second-tier NFD, while the overall winners stood to pocket a whopping R1-million in prize-money.
