Brief: A united community can grow tourism

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the accompanied lockdowns had a devasting impact on tourism and the hospitality industry.

Marthinus Duckitt, creative director, Zebula Golf Estate and Spa, writes:

Zebula Golf Estate and Spa is hosting a Christmas market on Saturday 18 December.

We invite the Bela-Bela community to come and sell their craft and handwork at the market and enjoy a day at Zebula.

The onset of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and the accompanied lockdowns had a devasting impact on tourism and the hospitality industry.

The management of Zebula Golf Estate and Spa had to make hard decisions to ensure the business weathered this unprecedented storm.

In 2022 Zebula is planning to host a series of events that will continue to build on its strengths.

Who can forget the fun and great aeronautical displays of the Zebula Airshows? We are in the preliminary phase of planning to host the Great Zebula Airshow in 2022.

The estate is also planning to host several charity golf days where the proceeds will go towards an institution in the Bela-Bela region. We are planning to host Park Runs at the estate and to share the beauty of our environment with the Bela-Bela community.

Adventures with Elephants, our partner institution, is planning to bring back their famed Walk With Elephants Day in 2022 and will continue to share their conservation work with the Bela-Bela community and visitors from elsewhere.

At Zebula, we believe that we must involve the Bela-Bela community in our efforts to showcase all the Bushveld has to offer to fellow South Africans and the International Community.

As a united community, we can grow tourism in the region to surpass pre-Covid-19 levels.

Our Christmas Market on 18 December is a small first step on this road. If you want to participate in the market, please visit https://zebulagolfestate.co.za/christmas-market/(.)
