Desperate needs in desperate times

As we can no longer proceed with our normal marketing ventures to raise funds and contribute to the very strict budget to keep Huis Talje operational, we are in dire straits and currently have serious financial challenges.

Erica van Zyl, Project Manager, Huis Talje, Bela-Bela, writes:

As we are all aware that Covid-19 had a great impact on everyone and that the hardship is continuing, just the following to make you aware of the dire position we are in at present:

Huis Talje Children’s Home receives a subsidy to the amount of R4 000 per child per month. These payments are made every three months.

As we can no longer proceed with our normal marketing ventures to raise funds and contribute to the very strict budget to keep Huis Talje operational, we are in dire straits and currently have serious financial challenges.

In the past, we were quite dependant on our friends and sponsors to achieve our goals. The current lockdown restricts most people to continue with much needed personal contributions and fund raising events.

Thus our plea for financial assistance to enable us to maintain our quality care of our special children. Our running costs with which we are battling at present are electricity on our pre-paid meter (R20 000), nappies (R18 000), municipalital water, rates and taxes (R7 800), hygene equipment like masks, gloves, sanitizers and cleaning material (R13 943), supplements (R7 500) and gas R3 150).

We are also in desperate need of another heavy duty washing machine. The quote for this machine is R14 839.
