Fully operational traffic department requested

Traffic officials who are able to take out the book if traffic offenders do not abide by the law. That they will be equipped with the tools of their trade to enable them to provide a service of prevention rather than cure.

The same old “moaner”, Mookgophong, writes:

As so many times before, my complaint or plea is for the local traffic department to be more vigilant.

Speeding in Thabo Mbeki Street has been a major problem for those living and working there.

In The Mayoral Column in The Post of Friday, 31 August 2018, an appeal was made to respect and abide municipal bylaws.

My correspondence with the local traffic department on this statement came to no avail. The follow up meeting with a councillor has also fallen by the way side.

My humble and urgent request is that we have a fully operational traffic department that can enforce all the bylaws and legislature.

Traffic officials who are able to take out the book if traffic offenders do not abide by the law. That they will be equipped with the tools of their trade to enable them to provide a service of prevention rather than cure.

Road safety is a key issue in all provinces and should be a target to achieve an accident free town and area.

Please take the speeding traffic in our town to book, show them that Mookgophong is a zero tolerance area and whilst we are promoting road safety we will generate much needed revenue from those that do not want to adhere to the law.
