Big opportunities awaits Class of ’23

Limpopo has more than 94,000 candidates registered for the matric exam this year. Though it was the worst-performing province last year, matric learners in the Waterberg District performed well with a pass rate of 71,3%, after Capricorn South (73,8% pass rate) and Mogalakwane (72%).

Limpopo Education MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, is confident that the 2023 Matric Class will do better this year as support to the learners was ramped up by intervention strategies such as Saturday classes, enrichment camps, and accountability sessions for poor performing schools and circuits.

Vhembe East has the highest number of candidates followed by Capricorn South with Waterberg registering the lowest number of candidates.

Wiets Botes:
Ek voel gespanne en opgewonde oor die eksamen omdat dit die laaste een is. Ek sorg dat ek goed voorbereid is deur lank voor die tyd te begin leer en ou vraestelle uit te werk. Ek kyk ook na YouTube-video’s om my te help voorberei.

Rudzani Sadiki:
It has not hit me yet that I am writing my final exam, although it is an important one that will determine my future career and further studies. I don’t feel anxious, but I’m not looking forward to writing the exams. I prepare myself by studying a week before a specific subject. I also use all the previous notes I made and work through all past exam papers. I use extra resources like study guides and books that I find online.

Moloko Mahlaka:
I feel as if I am ready for anything, although I still feel somewhat drained from the trial exams. I make sure I’m prepared by getting enough sleep and do not study through the night. Drink enough water. It is important to have a place to study and set yourself a schedule. In times like these, discipline must be your best friend. You can ditch her again after the exams.

Daniël Briel:
Ek is bly ons is op die punt van eindeksamen skryf. Ek is nie baie opgewonde oor nóg eksamens nie, maar wel dat ons matriekjaar tot ’n einde kom. Ek voel rustig oor die eksamen wat voorlê — baie rustiger as my ma! ’n Mens is tog maar onseker of jy die punte gaan behaal waarvoor jy mik, maar ek is seker van my planne vir die toekoms en hoe om daar uit te kom. Ek is dankbaar vir ons onderwysers wat ons so goed voorberei het en vir die skool wat my soveel geleer het. Dit sal oral saam met my gaan.

Nadine Kloppers:
Ek het gemengde gevoelens oor die eksamen, omdat ek nie weet wat op my wag nie. Hoewel ek deeglike voorberei-
ding gedoen het vir die rekordeksamen, is ek senuagtig. Aan die anderkant is ek dankbaar, want ek weet ek het ’n goeie onder-
steuningsnetwerk wat bankvas agter my staan. Ek glo beplanning is baie belangrik. Ek maak seker dat ek genoeg tyd het om aan elke vak te gee. Ek neem gereeld ’n ruskans en doen iets aktiefs sodat ek weer beter kan fokus. Ek werk baie ou vraestelle uit en vertrou op die Here. Aan al die ander matrieks: Hou moed!
