Top honours for matric learner

Schools that write the Independent Examination Board (IEB) exam received their results on Tuesday, 17 January, while public schools’ results will be available on Friday 20 January.

Waterberg Academy in Vaalwater is extremely proud of their 10 matric learners as they have once again achieved a 100% pass rate, as they have done since its inception in 2003.

Jana Leonard, the Dux Scholar, achieved seven distinctions in Afrikaans First Additional Language, English Home Language, Mathematics, Physical Science, Geography, Life Science and Life Orientation.

She is the first recipient of the school’s Live and Learn Prestige Award for achieving an above 90% average for the past three years. Jana also attained 95% for Core Mathematics, 87% for Physical Science, 90% for Geography, 93% for Afrikaans First Additional Language and 95% for Life Orientation.

She placed in the Top 1% in the IEB in Geography and Life Orientation. She also received the commendable achievement award from the IEB for achieving within the top 5% in five of her subjects and achieving a rating level 7 in Life Orientation.

Panashe Gara achieved two distinctions in Mathematical Literacy and Life Orientation.
