The preschool and Grade R classes has been hard at work since Monday 25 January.
This independent school was established in 2015 by a husband and wife team, Albert Viljoen, a pastor, and Lourin Viljoen, a qualified educator.
The Post spoke to Lourin, school principal, about her vision for the school.
“Our vision is to give children a love for God and a love for learning. We strive to equip every child in spirit, body and soul, by training and educating them to develop a strong Christian character.”
“After home schooling my own children over a period of 20 years, and from my experience in Christian based children’s ministry, I realised the need for Christian based education, in a loving environment.”
Our learners took our motto to heart — We live like a family, but we function like an army,” she said. Albert said, “Most of our learners do not even want to go on holiday; they just want to continue learning.” This is music to any parent’s ears.
“We teach and practice Christian principles, but we also encourage and stimulate an entrepreneurial mindset to empower our learners for success in their future,” said Lourin.
The school is affiliated to the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) for quality Christian Education. Learners from Grade 7 and onwards, utilise the digital (computer) centre where online studies, based on either the South African CAPS system, or the international Cambridge system, are facilitated by educators on site.
Modicademy also offers boarding facilities within walking distance from the school.
Lourin said, “We aim to create a home away from home where children will be loved and cared for in a safe environment.”
