The availability of the students’ support grants were unveiled during the local Maope High School‘s matrics’ farewell function on Thursday 11 October.

The gala dinner was hosted at Forever Resorts.

According to Bela-Bela municipal spokesperson, Kabelo Mosito, the 10 were to be identified and selected on merit.

He said bursaries would, for starters, be made available to matriculants in the maths and sciences, and in later years be expand to other subjects.

Guest speaker on the day, the Bela-Bela Local Municipality’s municipal manager, Michael Makhubela, told learners to study hard, against the background of what he described as a low
matriculation pass rate in the town.

He said he himself was a product of Maope High School.
