The theme of this year’s event was “Let us protect all children to move South Africa forward”.

Departmental spokesperson, Adele van der Linde, said the events were held to educate and mobilize communities to take responsibility towards children’s protection and care.

She said the department continued with such programs to visit schools and engage various groups within communities.

Van der Linde further said the department had dispatched a team of subject matter experts and social workers, who work within the Child Protection unit to speak to communities.

In Bela-Bela the event was held at the Antioch River Church on Friday 1 June.
