Phala Phala accused to appear in November

The case against three people accused of stealing millions from the Phala Phala game farm on the outskirts of Bela-Bela, has been postponed to Tuesday, 26 November in the Modimolle Regional Court for a pre-trail conference by Magistrate Peter Manthatha.

Imanuwela David, Floriana Joseph and her brother Ndilinasho Joseph appeared on charges of housebreaking and theft. David faces an additional charge of money laundering.

The alleged theft of R10 million took place at President Cyril Ramaphosa’s game farm in 2020. David remains in custody while the Josephs are out on bail.

As during their other court appearances, Floriana Joseph kept her face covered during the trial.

The case received international attention when a domestic worker allegedly found millions of rands’ worth of American dollars inside a couch on the game farm. The alleged burglary followed on 9 February at approximately 22:00.

President Ramaphosa denied any wrongdoing, stating that the $580,000 was a deposit paid by a Sudanese buyer for buffaloes.
