Tragedy in Bela-Bela township unfolds
A tragedy unfolded in the community of the Bela-Bela Township on Sunday 10, March when the local police discovered the bodies of a father and his 4-year-old daughter.
According to Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lt-Genl Thembi Hadebe the heart-wrenching discovery was made just after 09:00 when the lifeless bodies of a male adult and a young girl were found suspended from a beam in the back room of the deceased’s family home in Malebye Street.
Lt-Genl Hadebe issued a stern condemnation of the tragic incident and said that this serves as a somber reminder of the urgent need to seek support when facing domestic challenges.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the father took the life of his young daughter before taking his own life. While the mother was absent when the horrific scene unfolded, the presence of potential domestic challenges cannot be discarded.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has initiated murder and inquest inquiries to unravel the circumstances regarding this tragedy.
Lt-Genl Hadebe underscores the critical importance of seeking assistance from relevant professionals and resources when grappling with domestic issues. She emphasized the value of early intervention.
