Bela-Bela residents mourn the death of prominent businessman

George Menyatso Korobele (51), founder and director of the Menyatso Funeral Parlour in Bela-Bela, passed away on Friday 22 January at the Montana Hospital after a short illness.

According to his family and colleagues he was admitted to hospital two weeks prior to his passing with diabetes and Covid-19 related symptoms.

He was a man of compassion and was respected in the local community. His successful business ventures was a tribute to the high values he stood for.

He was a business leader that supported his local community and invested in the wellbeing of his compatriots.

Korobele was born in 1969 in the Ga-Masenya area in Mokopane. He finished primary school in Bela-Bela and completed his school career at the Phake Ratlhagana High School in Phake, Mpumalanga.

Prior to his career in the funeral industry he was a freelance photographer and rendered his service to bereaved families. He thus became involved in the industry that would later become his passion.

Through dedicated hard work and excellent managerial skills he expanded his business and to date there is a total of eight branches of Menyatso Funeral Parlours in Limpopo, Gauteng and Mpumalanga.

His colleagues and family will remember him as a natural born leader, a businessman par excellence, a critical marketer and an astute business administrator.

His friends and family nicknamed him Professor, for his extended scope of knowledge. In Bela-Bela he was known as a compassionate family man and never hesitated to assist those in need.

Korobele was laid to rest on Wednesday 27 January in Phake, with his family and close friends in attendance.

Despite the Covid-19 restrictions placed on funerals his family and colleagues held a beautiful service to honour his memory.

He is survived by two wives, eight children, his mother, sister and grandchildren.
