Firefighters honour frontline workers
The team of Working on Fire (WOF) lit a candle for all frontline workers on Friday 28 August.
They invited emergency medical service workers in the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality, as well as mayor Marlene van Staden, to attend the event held at the Nylstroom Airfield.
This moment of reflection was held countrywide to show their support for frontline workers in the fight against Covid-19.
Van Staden praised the team, who had an extremely busy fire season until now. She applauded them for putting their lives at risk even though they have families at home.
“You all stayed at your posts and continued your work during the Covid-19 pandemic to keep your communities safe,” she said.
Several workers from the emergency medical services joined the Working on Fire team.
The event ended on a lighter note with all joining in an enthusiastic rendition of the popular Jerusalema Dance Challenge.
