No, you are not seeing double

As schools across the country opened on Wednesday, 15 January, Modimolle’s Dagbreek Primary School recorded a set of 12 twins, some of them who were newly Grade R beginners, while the others have always been learners at the school.

The learners are made up of both identical and fraternal twins.

Identical twins often look the same to an extent that they might confuse almost everyone, except their close family members.

On the contrary, fraternal twins may look different and can also be different genders, making it easy to distinguish between them.

Principal Emelinah Manne said having so many twins brings twice the fun in the school environment.

She said identifying the twins early in the year helps the educators to be able to understand them better, and also to pay close attention to whether they work well together or are free to be separated into different classrooms.

According to the website verywellfamily.com, being in the same class can help twins to enjoy a consistent education experience as they learn the same thing at the same time.

The website further indicates that some twins can still cope even when separated, but if that proves to be disadvantageous, they should be allowed to be together.
